The below TED talk ends with a question: “for all aspects of the things that your community needs in order to thrive, how can it be done in such a way that drastically reduces its carbon emissions, while also building resilience?”
Rob Hopkins is one of the speakers of the OuiShare Fest 15 lineup and we are excited to explore the answers to it with him in one of this year's Fest tracks: "Sustainability and the Collaborative economy".

Rob Hopkins is the founder of the Transition movement, a radically hopeful and community-driven approach to creating societies independent of fossil fuel. He co-founded Transition Town Totnes and of the Transition Network. He recently completed a PhD at the University of Plymouth entitled ‘Localisation and resilience at the local level: the case of Transition Town Totnes’. He now lives in Devon and grows food for his family.
In his above talk, he states:

Looking through the lens of resilience, we really question how we've let ourselves get into a situation that's so vulnerable. Resilience runs much deeper: it's about building modularity into what we do, building surge breakers into how we organize the basic things that support us.[...]
